Sporné prostory, těla a identity v Salvadoru (Bahia, Brazílie)

Tato výstava, láskyplně nazvaná "Ruas, Santos e Axé" (Ulice, svatí a Axé), je postavena na krvi a potu černých Afričanů. Vystavené fotografie zachycují různé události a roky setkávání, střetů a neshod. Jsou svědectvím let strávených fotografováním náboženských projevů v ulicích brazilského Salvadoru. Ulice je považována za veřejný prostor. A ten představuje celek zažívaných možností a vyloučení, svobody a násilí. Násilí, které je fyzické a symbolické, strukturální a strukturující. Ulice je prostorem nenávisti i okouzlení. Afro-brazilské náboženské projevy jsou aktem potvrzení identity historicky zotročovaných a marginalizovaných národů. „Povo do santo“ (lid svatého) nesměl praktikovat své původní africké náboženství a současná okupace ulic symbolizuje jeho emancipaci a politický boj. Černí Afričané těmito aktivitami stvrzují svou přítomnost ve městě a jejich těla zosobňují odpor a zmocnění. Fotografie ukazují jejich „axé“: moc, energii a sílu.

This exhibition, affectionately titled “Ruas, Santos e Axé” (streets, saints and axé), is built with black African blood and sweat. The photographs on display capture different events and years of meetings, encounters and disagreements. They are insights of years engaged in photographing walks and religious manifestations in the streets of the city of Salvador-Bahia. The street is a space considered to be public. As a public space it is an experience of access and exclusion, of freedom and violence. A violence that is physical and symbolic, structural and structuring. The street is a space of hatred and enchantment. Afro-Brazilian religious manifestations are acts of identity reaffirmation of historically enslaved and marginalized peoples. The “povo do santo” (people of the saint) were forbidden to practice their religion of African origins, and their occupation of the streets now symbolises their emancipation and political struggle. Their actions reaffirm the black presence in the city with their bodies as places of resistance and empowerment. The photographs record their “axé”: power, energy and force.
Srpen 2019 – Ulice v době Opanijé
V srpnu, přesně před 25 lety, se v historickém centru Salvadoru (Bahia, Brazílie) sešla skupina mužů a žen, vyznavačů Orixá Obaluaê/Xapanã, aby zorganizovali Pochod Azoany. Jedná se o veřejnou demonstraci odporu, která za zpěvu a tance v rytmu Opanijé obsadí ulice historického centra Salvadoru. Měsíc srpen je v Brazílii obdobím, které je v náboženstvích afrických potomků zasvěceno uctívání tohoto božstva (Omolu/Obaluaê).
August of 2019 – Street of the Opanijé time
Exactly 25 years ago, in the month of August, in the historical centre of Salvador (Bahia, Brazil), a group of men and women, devotees of the Orixá Obaluaê / Xapanã, met to organize the Azoany Walk. This is a public demonstration of resistance that occupies the streets of the historical centre of Salvador singing and dancing to the rhythm of Opanijé. The month of August in Brazil is the period dedicated, by African-descendants religions, to the worship of this deity (Omolu / Obaluaê).
Agosto de 2019 – A rua no tempo do Opanijé
Há exatamente 25 anos, no mês de agosto, no centro histórico de Salvador, um grupo de homens e mulheres, devotos do Orixá Obaluaê / Xapanã, se reúnem para organizar a Caminhada Azoany. Essa é uma manifestação pública de resistência que Opanijé. O mês de agosto no Brasil é o período dedicado, pelas religiões matriz africana, dedicado ao culto desta divindade (Omolu / Obaluaê).
2. února 2020 – Na slavnosti Královny moře
2. únor je známý svátkem zasvěceným Iemanjá, africkému božstvu, které je v kultech afrických potomků považováno za Královnu moře. Tento oblíbený festival tradičně pořádají rybáři na pláži Rio Vermelho (Salvador, Bahia). Jedná se o událost, při níž uctívači z celé Brazílie využívají příležitosti položit květiny a dary pro bohyni – africké božstvo.
Feburary 2nd, 2020 – At the Feast of the Queen of the Sea
February 2nd is known for the festival dedicated to Iemanjá, an African deity cultured in African descendent cults and conceived as the queen of the Sea. This popular festival is traditionally organized by fishermen on the Rio Vermelho beach (Salvador - Bahia). It is an event in which devotees from all over Brazil take the opportunity to place flowers and gifts for the goddess - an African deity.
02 Fevereiro de 2020 – Na Festa da Rainhnd, a do Mar
O dia 02 de Fevereiro é conhecido pela a festa para Iemanjá, divindade Africana cultura nos cultos de matriz Africanas e concebida como a rainha do Mar. Essa festa popular é tradicionalmente organizada por pescadores na praia do Rio Vermelho (Salvador - Bahia). É uma evento onde devotos de todo o Brasil aproveitam para colocar flores e presentes para a deusa - divindade Africana.
listopad 2018/2019 – Pochod proti náboženské nenávisti
Listopadový pochod Terreiros z Engenho Velho da Federacion (oblíbená čtvrť v Salvadoru, Bahia) se koná už přibližně 20 let jako akce na obranu náboženské svobody a dobrého života. Kriminalizace černošsko-afrických demonstrací v Brazílii je základem kolektivní mentality společnosti, která byla vybudována na základě rasismu jako filozofického étosu zakládajícího její bytí a život dodnes. Tyto koloniální vroubky jsou dodnes přítomny a upírají ostatním právo na svobodné vyznání a kulturní projevy.
November 2018/2019 – Walk against Religious Hatred
The Walk of the Terreiros of Engenho Velho da Federacion (a popular neighbourhood in Salvador, Bahia) has taken place in November, for approximately 20 years, as an action in defence of religious freedom and for the good living. The criminalization of black-African demonstrations in Brazil underpins the collective mentality of a society built with racism as its philosophical ethos grounding its being and living to this day. These colonial grooves are still present today, denying others the right to free worship and cultural manifestations.
Novembro 2018/2019 – Caminhada contra o Ódio Religioso
A caminhada dos Terreiros do Engenho Velho da Federação (bairro popular de Salvador, Bahia), ocorre em novembro, há aproximadamente 20 anos, como uma ação em defesa da liberdade religiosa e pelo bem – viver. A criminalização das manifestações negras – africanas no Brasil alicerça até os dias atuais a mentalidade coletiva de sociedade construída com o racismo sendo o seu ethos filosófico de ser e viver. Essas ranhuras coloniais se fazem presente ainda nos dias de hoje negando ao outro o direito de livre culto e manifestações culturais.
